What a way to wrap up a season! Pratt Institute senior Max Wang has landed a prime spot on the United East All-Conference Second Team for 2026. This isn’t just an individual win—it’s a testament to Wang’s all-around game and his vital role with the Cannoneers, firmly placing him among men’s volleyball’s best in the conference.
The league shared the news after votes from head coaches rolled in, providing a fitting finish to Wang’s impressive run this year. His reliability and energy kept Pratt’s squad competitive, and his versatility was on full display—whether it was offense, defense, or service, Wang did it all.
A Season to Remember
From day one, Wang seemed determined to leave his mark on Pratt volleyball. As a senior outside hitter, he essentially led the charge in every major category: 160 kills, 209 points, 46 service aces, and 143 digs—all markers of his central role. Brooklyn had a leader, and the Cannoneers kept building momentum in the city’s competitive college sports arena.
Need proof of his importance? Look no further than his triple-threat performances. Wang was as comfortable hammering down a kill as he was sliding into a crucial dig or launching a tough serve. He was Pratt’s go-to guy whenever the stakes were highest.
Big Moments, Bright Lights
Wang’s season wasn’t just about piling up stats—it was about showing up when it mattered. He collected three double-doubles, including a jaw-dropping match against Neumann University, where he notched 22 kills and 15 digs in a five-set battle.
He brought the same energy against Lehman College, putting down 15 kills and registering a career-best 22 digs. Game after game, Wang’s consistency and toughness shone through, particularly in long, grueling rallies.
Standing Out in the United East
Statistically, Wang’s presence in the United East Conference was impossible to ignore. He topped all players in aces per set (0.71), making his serve a constant headache for opponents.
On defense, he ranked fifth in digs per set (2.30), while also finishing sixth in points per set (3.43) and ninth in kills per set (2.69). No matter the stat, Wang popped up near the top, cementing his status as one of the league’s most complete talents.
A New Chapter for Pratt Volleyball
This all-conference pick is a first for Wang in his college career, and it keeps a good thing going for Pratt men’s volleyball. He’s now the third player in Cannoneers history to earn All-United East honors, sharing the spotlight with Jason Raymond (First Team, 2024) and Brooks Reid (Third Team, 2025).
For a program gaining traction in New York’s college sports circles, successes like Wang’s are a clear sign of steady progress and a rising profile.
Looking Ahead
With Wang moving on, Pratt faces a future shaped by the legacy he leaves behind. His skillset and leadership raise the bar for those who follow, giving the Cannoneers plenty to build on as they chase bigger goals within the United East Conference.
Zooming out, Wang’s honor speaks volumes about the evolving level of play among New York’s smaller college programs. The city’s volleyball scene is deep, competitive, and—thanks to players like Wang—gaining fresh respect.
