Baruch Sets the Tone: Opening CUNYAC With Convincing Win over John Jay

On Thursday, December 11, the Bearcats women’s swimming team began their CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) slate in commanding style, overpowering John Jay College of Criminal Justice in a meet dominated from start to finish by the visitors.

From the very first medley relay to the night’s closing race at John Jay, the Bearcats claimed victory in all but the exhibition events.

Multiple Winners Drive the Team’s Success

Numerous Bearcats delivered impressive performances by capturing several races:

  • Kira Chen posted three first-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard individual medley, and 100-yard backstroke.

  • Allyse Alexander also earned three wins: the 200-yard medley relay, 50-yard freestyle, and 100-yard butterfly.

  • Kaetlyn Chavez excelled in distance races, taking top honors in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, and the 100-yard freestyle.

  • Ashley Leal contributed two victories in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle.

After a dominant conference opener, the Bearcats enter their Final Exam Break with a strong start. Following finals, the squad returns on January 5 at York College for the first of many January meets.
