Performing Arts & Technology High School (PATHS) will once again spotlight student creativity and cultural expression with its annual Black History Month show, taking place Friday, February 27, 2026, at the TJC Auditorium in East New York. The program, titled “Our Story: The Power of Black Excellence,” runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with doors opening at 5:00 PM, and brings together students, families, and community members for an evening centered on history, artistry, and pride. A Night of Student Performances The annual showcase features performances by several PATHS student groups, including: • PATHS Theatre • PATHS Modern Band • PATHS Dance • PATHS Vocal Through music, movement, and dramatic storytelling, students explore themes of Black history, resilience, and achievement, using the performing arts to connect past struggles with present expression and future possibilities. Honoring History Through the Arts The Black History Month show has become a signature event for PATHS, serving as both a tribute and a platform for student voices. This year’s theme emphasizes excellence and self-expression, highlighting how young artists interpret cultural legacy through their craft. “This show is about more than performance — it’s about pride, identity, and empowerment,” said Mrs. Jones, teacher of PATHS Dance. “Our students pour their hearts into this production. Through dance and the arts, they are telling stories of strength, creativity, and excellence that deserve to be seen and celebrated by the entire community.” Community Invited to Attend The event is open to the public, with admission set at $10 for adults and $5 for students and children under 7. Families, alumni, educators, and residents of East New York and nearby neighborhoods are encouraged to attend and support the student performers. Held at the TJC Auditorium, located at 400 Pennsylvania Avenue, the evening is expected to draw a wide audience for what has become a meaningful annual celebration of culture, talent, and unity within the school and the broader community.
