Brooklyn renters and homeowners will have a chance to connect with housing agencies, community organizations, and support services at the SD25 Renters & Homeowners Resource Fair on Saturday, April 4, at Restoration Plaza, at 1368 Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The event will focus on issues affecting residents across Central Brooklyn and beyond, including deed theft prevention, tenant protections, NYCHA and PACT updates, and homeownership opportunities.
“This is an important event for our community because so many renters and homeowners are dealing with real housing challenges and need access to reliable information and support,” said Assemblywoman Stefani Zinerman, according to an official announcement distributed via NYC Newswire. “I encourage residents to come out, learn about the resources that are available, and take this opportunity to speak up about the issues they are facing. I will be there to support this initiative and to hear directly from members of the community.”
The SD25 Renters & Homeowners Resource Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Restoration Plaza. The event will bring together housing experts, public agencies, and community-based organizations offering guidance and resources for renters and homeowners across Central Brooklyn.
Assemblywoman Stefani Zinerman is encouraging residents to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to engage directly with organizations focused on housing support. She is also expected to be present to hear from constituents about the challenges they are facing.
Across Brooklyn, many households are dealing with rising rents, uncertainty around housing programs, and concerns about protecting property ownership. The resource fair reflects a broader demand for accessible, reliable information, particularly in neighborhoods like Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, and East New York, where housing stability remains a key issue.
Attendees will have access to information on tenant protections, deed theft prevention, transitional and supportive housing, and homeownership opportunities. Resources related to NYCHA and PACT developments will also be available, along with guidance for first-time homebuyers earning under $80,000.
Organizations expected to participate include the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), NHS Brooklyn, United for Brownsville, Center for NYC Neighborhoods, Bridge Street Development Corporation, IMPACCT Brooklyn, SAGE, The Black Lady, and other community partners.
The event will feature a full schedule of panels and presentations addressing key housing concerns affecting Brooklyn residents.
Topics include efforts to prevent deed theft, updates on NYCHA and PACT programs, and discussions on the ongoing rental crisis and potential solutions. Additional sessions will focus on homeownership pathways for moderate-income families and strategies for strengthening block and tenant associations.
An FDNY presentation will also provide information on safety and available community resources.
In addition to the resource sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to watch Slumlord Millionaire, a documentary examining New York City’s housing crisis. The screening will be paired with a short film exploring the history of the Slave Theater in Brooklyn, offering additional perspective on housing and community change over time.
The SD25 Renters & Homeowners Resource Fair is free and open to the public. For Brooklyn residents seeking clarity on housing issues or looking for direct connections to support services, the event offers a centralized space to ask questions, gather information, and explore available options.
