The newest location, at 2656 Hylan Blvd in New Dorp Plaza, comes amid ongoing increases in health care costs and the looming end of important <a href='https:\/\/www.healthcare.gov\/lower-costs\/save-on-coverage\/'>Affordable Care Act<\/a> subsidies, creating additional hurdles for families pursuing cost-effective coverage.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"568\">A Lasting Resource for the Community\u2019s Needs<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"889\">For a number of years, MetroPlusHealth\u2019s mobile unit delivered health services to this Staten Island neighborhood, providing a short-term fix to rising local requirements. This solution has now transformed into a fully equipped, permanent site designed to guarantee residents consistent access to health resources and guidance.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"891\" data-end=\"1417\">\u201cWe are excited to open a second Staten Island community office,\u201d said Dr. Talya Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer of MetroPlusHealth. \u201cFor the past two years, our mobile unit has been here in this neighborhood, meeting the urgent needs of the community and ensuring access to care. Today, that temporary solution has transformed into a permanent hub for health and wellbeing. This new location strengthens our commitment to deliver high-quality, affordable health care, and empowers residents to take charge of their health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1419\" data-end=\"1769\">Tuesday, November 18 marked the opening of the office, celebrated by local dignitaries such as Dr. Ginny Mantello of the Staten Island Borough President\u2019s Office, Council Member Frank Morano, Ian Yanda of Assemblyman Michael Tannousis\u2019 office, John Rinaudo on behalf of Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, and Etsio Flores from Make the Road.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1771\" data-end=\"1824\">Steady Expansion and Community Focus<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1826\" data-end=\"2270\">MetroPlusHealth initiated its Staten Island operations in 2017 with its flagship office. Since then, it has regularly posted double-digit membership growth, supported by a network that spans all of the borough\u2019s acute care hospitals. The health plan additionally offers two mobile units and a designated Medicare-focused mobile service, delivering critical care where it\u2019s most required.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2272\" data-end=\"2498\">The organization is also an active participant in local events, partnering with elected officials on food and coat drives, toy giveaways, turkey distributions, and Back to School support efforts.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2500\" data-end=\"2539\">Expanding Hours and Support<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2541\" data-end=\"2852\">With doors open every day, the new office operates as a full-service resource center. Community members will be able to consult with enrollment staff who can walk them through plan choices, help with sign-ups, and explain benefits like over-the-counter allowances or reward programs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2854\" data-end=\"3364\">MetroPlusHealth sees the new location as vital in fighting Staten Island\u2019s major health issues. The borough is third nationwide for opioid addiction and continues to face significant mental health service gaps, plus above-average rates of chronic illnesses.
