Now he is officially spreading the news to Brooklyn&#8217;s senior population, in an effort to make them aware of the various ways to fight diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>Adams has teamed up with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alphacare.com\">AlphaCare<\/a><\/strong>, a Brooklyn based health insurance plan that concentrates on managed long term care (MLTC), to present the <strong>Wellness and Resource Series<\/strong>. \u00a0The series will kickoff with\u00a0the <strong>Diabetes Awareness Health Fair, May 18, at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration<\/strong>, with partners that include the American Diabetes Association, Interfaith Hospital, Brookdale Hospital, Access-A-Ride, NYC Department of Aging, New York for Seniors magazine and others.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are all responsible for our own bodies and that\u2019s why we need to raise awareness around taking control of our health,\u201d said <strong>Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams<\/strong>. \u201cThrough my own experience dealing with Type 2 diabetes, I learned that the body has an incredible capacity to heal itself with exercise, and nutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables and natural products.
