The race for New York Attorney General is heating up as Republican Saritha Komatireddy moves to challenge Letitia James<\/span><\/span>. Komatireddy, a political outsider and former federal prosecutor, told The Post that she sees a path to victory because New Yorkers are \u201ctired of the lawlessness\u201d under James\u2019 tenure.<\/p>\n

From Manhattan to Brooklyn and the Bronx, residents have voiced growing frustration over crime, enforcement, and government oversight, concerns Komatireddy is using to frame her campaign message.<\/p>\n

Who Is Saritha Komatireddy?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Komatireddy is a Manhattan-based mother of four and a career lawyer with an extensive record in federal prosecution. Motivated into public service after the 9\/11 terror attacks, she handled cases against Al Qaeda and ISIS terrorists, later working with the Drug Enforcement Administration.<\/p>\n

She earned her law degree from Harvard Law and clerked for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh on the Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. In 2020, she was nominated for a federal judgeship by President Trump, although the nomination did not advance before the end of his term. She is now a partner at Holzman Vogel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese things affect innocent people. They affect everyday New Yorkers. And I think New Yorkers across the political spectrum just are tired of the lawlessness,\u201d said Komatireddy, 41.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She argues that woke and soft-on-crime policies have made it tougher for residents to live safely in New York. Her platform includes cracking down on drug crimes, antisemitism, and oversight of public institutions like homeless shelters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to make sure that the people taking taxpayer money to provide services are actually providing those services,\u201d she argued.
\u201cWhen we audit and investigate every homeless shelter in the state, we will be able to see who\u2019s doing a good job, who\u2019s doing a bad job, who is creating a safe space and who is not,\u201d Komatireddy said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She also emphasizes tackling grift and political favoritism:<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone in an official position is friends with everyone else, and no one\u2019s really a check,\u201d Komatireddy said adding that she would not \u201ctarget people for their politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
