<\/p>\nIn a result carrying both personal and historic significance, Janice Chen has secured victory in the Democratic Primary for Kings County Civil Court Judge, overcoming formidable legal and political obstacles along the way.<\/p>\n
Chen, who issued a statement following her win, described the journey as anything but smooth. \u201cThis was not an easy road,\u201d she said in her statement. \u201cFrom the start, I faced intense opposition, including legal challenges in the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and Court of Appeals, all aimed at removing me from the ballot. At every level, we prevailed because the law and the will of the people were on our side.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her campaign, led alongside manager Musa Moore, was tested repeatedly by attempts to disqualify her candidacy. Yet Chen credits her supporters for helping her endure. \u201cMy campaign manager Musa Moore and I thank you for standing with us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Chen\u2019s win carries particular weight given the historic context. She was the only Asian candidate in a field of four women, and her victory, she noted, is a step forward for representation on the bench. \u201cThis victory is historic, as it makes me one of only a small number of members of the Asian community ever elected to the bench in Kings County,\u201d Chen stated. \u201cIt demonstrates that our courts\u2014and our democracy\u2014can and should reflect the rich diversity of Brooklyn.\u201d<\/p>\n
Throughout the campaign, Chen built broad support across Brooklyn\u2019s communities, acknowledging those who contributed to her success. \u201cTo everyone who believed in this campaign who volunteered, contributed, and stood with me through every challenge, thank you. We could not have done this without the support of communities across Brooklyn,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, Chen expressed her commitment to the role and to serving the people of Kings County. \u201cI look forward to the opportunity to serve all the people of Kings County with fairness, integrity, and respect,\u201d she affirmed in her statement.<\/p>\n
