The New York Police Department’s highest-ranking uniformed officer abruptly resigned late Friday night after a NYPD subordinate made allegations that he demanded sexual favors in exchange for\u00a0massive amounts of overtime<\/a>, according to media reports.<\/p>\n

Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey stepped down on Friday after the New York Post<\/a> reported that Lt. Quathisha Epps was routinely preyed upon by Maddrey, who asked for sex in NYPD headquarters.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wanted to have anal sex, vaginal sex, oral sex,\u201d Epps told the Post. \u201cHe was always asking me to kiss his penis.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maddrey, a close friend of Mayor Adams, will be replaced on an interim basis by Chief of Patrol John Chell, the NYPD said.<\/p>\n

In addition, the head of the NYPD\u2019s Internal Affairs Bureau was forced out on Saturday, according to Gothamist.<\/a><\/p>\n

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced former Chief of Internal Affairs Miguel Iglesias was relieved of his duty and would be replaced by Edward Thompson, the news site said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbove all else, the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau must always be dedicated to preserving integrity and rooting out corruption in all its forms,\u201d Tisch wrote in a statement. \u201cIt is an essential function that is crucial to maintaining honor and nobility in the profession and preserving public trust. Chief Thompson is up to the task.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thompson will be tasked with fighting the type of bad behavior that Maddrey is accused of, according to the Gothamist.\u00a0She also\u00a0ordered<\/a>\u00a0roughly 500 police officers who were \u201cimproperly transferred\u201d to return to their posts.<\/p>\n

Tisch was named <\/a>NYPD Commissioner on Nov. 20, succeeding Interim Commissioner Thomas Donlon and Edward Caban.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
