The PSAL operates all sports within the NYC Public School System.<\/p>\n<p>Douglas was vacationing on the island of Jamaica when he died. Reports from friends state that he died of a heart attack after a bad fall eventually led to the forming of a blood clot. After 35 years at the Department of Education Douglas retired earlier this week from the PSAL. He was Executive Director of the Public Schools Athletic League since 2004.<\/p>\n<p>The statement from the league: \u201cPSAL mourns the loss of one of our beloved leaders, Donald J. Douglas. \u201cA pillar of the PSAL, we appreciate the years of service he gave to NYC.
