According to a recent Harvard Magazine<\/a> article, \u201cthere is growing evidence the mind-body practice of Tai Chi, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems.\u201d Often described as \u201cmeditation in motion\u201d, the article goes one step further by adopting the phrase \u201cmedication in motion\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is imperative that mindful exercises be introduced to all New Yorkers, which is why Healthy NYC<\/a> is excited to announce a partnership with Healer Within Foundation<\/a>, a non-profit organization whose mission is “to advance community-based Qigong\/Tai Chi and other self-healing body-mind-spirit practices\u201d. In an effort to spread awareness about the power of Tai Chi, The Healer Within Foundation will be providing a complimentary class at the upcoming Healthy NYC Expo<\/a> taking place on Saturday, September 7th at the Brooklyn Sports Club from 10 am – 3 pm. (Intro to Tai Chi class is from 2 pm to 3 pm<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n

The Foundation\u2019s founder is Dr. Roger Jahnke<\/a>, a doctor of Chinese medicine as well as a Tai Chi\/Qigong master who has developed the Tai Chi Easy<\/a>\u2122 practice program taught in leader training classes around the world. The organization\u2019s vision to help develop a \u201cworld of self-healing, wellness, and vitality\u201d. “Tai Chi Easy is not just an exercise or even a meditation, it is also a powerful anchor for social engagement in a community,\u201d expressed Dr. Jhanke.<\/span><\/p>\n
