The principal of Brooklyn Democracy Academy<\/strong> in Brownsville, has died due to complications from the coronavirus. This is the first known death of a public school staff member as a result of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sadness and overwhelming grief that we announce the passing of our sister, CSA member Dezann Romain<\/strong>, Principal of Brooklyn Democracy Academy, due to complications from Coronavirus,\u201d the Council of Schools Supervisors and Administrators wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is painful for all of us, and I extend my deepest condolences to the Brooklyn Democracy Academy community, and the family of Principal Romain,” Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza said<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Democracy Academy is located at 985 Rockaway Avenue, in Brownsville Brooklyn. The building also houses Leadership Prep Charter School and Kappa V (Knowledge and Power Prep Academy).<\/p>\n
