A major new development has officially opened in East New York, delivering both vital city services and significant economic investment to the community surrounding Broadway Junction. Located at 2440 Fulton Street, the newly constructed 400,000-square-foot commercial building will serve as a consolidated hub for the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and feature over 80,000 square feet of private-market retail space.<\/p>\n

The project, developed by Marvel Architects, the Leser Group, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), brings more than 1,100 DSS-HRA employees under one roof and is expected to improve the delivery of services like Cash Assistance, SNAP, Medicaid, and Fair Fares. It is the largest-ever commercial building in the Broadway Junction area and represents a key part of the Adams administration\u2019s CARE strategy (City Agencies Revitalizing the Economy), which aims to revitalize underserved neighborhoods by placing city offices and services in high-need areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s announcement brings us one step closer to making Broadway Junction a thriving hub for East Brooklyn, and the entire borough,\u201d said Mayor Eric Adams. \u201cWith the opening of this 400,000 square-foot building at 2440 Fulton Street, we are bringing 1,100 Department of Social Services employees to offer services like Cash Assistance, SNAP, Medicaid, and Fair Fares and opening 80,000 square feet of retail space to bring good-paying jobs and quality retail options to the neighborhood. This announcement also delivers on our CARE pledge, first announced in 2022, to revitalize underserved neighborhoods with the strategic placement of city office space and services \u2014 leveraging our resources as an employer and driving growth in local economies. This is part of more than $300 million in investments made in the Broadway Junction area and surrounding communities that deliver on the vision I first contributed to in 2017 for East New York when I was Brooklyn borough president.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The building is situated next to the Broadway Junction transit hub, a major transportation node that serves over 100,000 riders daily across the A, C, J, Z, and L subway lines, multiple bus routes, and the East New York LIRR station.<\/p>\n

The consolidation of DSS-HRA programs into this new location is intended to improve both client access and operational efficiency. The site features electronic check-in systems, enhanced self-service technology, and expanded waiting areas, helping streamline how New Yorkers interact with the agency.<\/p>\n
