Launched in November 2024, the fund connects local residents to career opportunities in construction, the green economy, and other emerging industries.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"662\"><strong data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"662\">Five Local Organizations Receive Funding<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"887\">\u201cWith the city making significant investments in the equitable growth of East Brooklyn, it\u2019s essential that the local workforce is equipped and connected to the jobs of tomorrow,\u201d said NYCEDC President &amp; CEO Andrew Kimball.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"923\"><strong>The five award recipients include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1783\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1079\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"1079\"><strong data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"965\">Brighter Opportunity Through Trade<\/strong> \u2013 Expanding a welding training and certification program in partnership with Lambo Mechanical and Imagine That.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1193\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1193\"><strong data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1116\">Brownsville Think Tank Matters<\/strong> \u2013 Launching a construction upskilling program with Monadnock Construction.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1408\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1196\" data-end=\"1408\"><strong data-start=\"1196\" data-end=\"1216\">IMPACCT Brooklyn<\/strong> \u2013 Launching entrepreneurship and real estate development workforce programs in partnership with BMS Family Health and Wellness Centers, Community Mediation Services, and Urbane Development.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1620\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1411\" data-end=\"1620\"><strong data-start=\"1411\" data-end=\"1461\">Local Development Corporation of East New York<\/strong> \u2013 Making operational investments to connect residents to career pathways, particularly tied to Broadway Junction and the Urban Village Construction Academy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1783\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1623\" data-end=\"1783\"><strong data-start=\"1623\" data-end=\"1662\">Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow<\/strong> \u2013 Launching a new East Brooklyn version of their Renewable Energy &amp; Sustainable Construction pre-apprenticeship program.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"1815\"><strong data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"1815\">Support from Local Leaders<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"2091\">Council Member Sandy Nurse celebrated the announcement, stating, \u201cThis $1.4 million is an investment in East New Yorkers and our workers. It will extend successful programs to East Brooklyn and help train more people to serve in both legacy and new, sustainable industries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2093\" data-end=\"2234\">Council Member Chris Banks added, \u201cThese award recipients have strong track records of community engagement and delivering equitable impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2236\" data-end=\"2303\"><strong data-start=\"2236\" data-end=\"2303\">Broadway Junction Revitalization and Citywide Development Goals<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2305\" data-end=\"2658\">This funding is part of a broader economic strategy tied to the revitalization of the Broadway Junction area. NYCEDC has already committed $130 million for infrastructure upgrades and public space improvements, including two new plazas and enhanced streetscapes.
