Brooklyn\u2019s legal scene is abuzz as attorney Abayomi Ajaiyeoba Whint<\/strong>, a highly respected voice for justice, prepares to appear on the ballot for Civil Court Judge in Kings County this November. This summer, she was handpicked by Brooklyn District Leaders as one of three nominees to fill vacant Civil Court seats, and now, her name will grace the General Election ballot on November 5, 2024.<\/p>\n

Born in Nigeria and raised in the U.S. from age six, Abayomi\u2019s path to the courtroom has been both inspiring and personal. Her commitment to justice stems from early influences, particularly her grandfather, a Magistrate Judge and Chief in Nigeria. \u201cJustice is not just a concept but an active commitment to fairness, equity, and truth,\u201d she explained. \u201cI envision a courtroom where every voice is heard, every individual respected, and each ruling made with integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n

ATTORNEY ABAYOMI AJAIYEOBA WHINT<\/p><\/div>\n

A graduate of Connecticut College with a B.A. in Psychology and Cum Laude honors, Abayomi went on to Rutgers School of Law-Newark, where her passion for social justice took root. As a paralegal with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, she advocated for individuals unable to advocate for themselves.<\/p>\n

Abayomi\u2019s legal experience is extensive and multifaceted. She\u2019s represented city agencies, handled commercial litigation with Cantor, Epstein & Mazzola, and launched her own practice in 2009, where she continues to champion justice across diverse fields, including bankruptcy, family law, and civil rights. As a mediator, arbitrator, and Restorative Circle Keeper, she\u2019s helped many resolve disputes with fairness and dignity.<\/p>\n

Her work extends to public service, as she currently serves as Legal Enforcement Attorney at the FDNY. She\u2019s also helped shape the agency\u2019s Diversity & Inclusion office and led its first affinity group for civilians, CONNECT. Abayomi\u2019s dedication to social equity has been a constant throughout her career, whether serving as Deputy Managing Attorney at OATH or co-chairing the Metropolitan Black Bar Association\u2019s Judicial Training Academy.<\/p>\n

This November, Abayomi\u2019s candidacy stands as a powerful testament to the values she\u2019s fostered through her career.
