The Brooklyn Nets<\/strong> are saying that today’s ousting of Steve Nash<\/strong> was a mutual decision, but all signs point to him being fired. Kevin Durant<\/strong> made it completely clear that he wanted Nash out after last season, and he said if Nash wasn’t out then he would look to leave the Nets through a demanded trade. Maybe Durant came to an agreement with the Nets ownership, which caused Durant to stay. Maybe the agreement was if Nash didn’t do a better job within the first few weeks then he would be out, and well, here we are.\u00a0 A few weeks in and the Nets are a dismal 2-5, and Nash is out.<\/p>\n

“We want to thank Steve for everything he brought to our franchise over the past two-plus seasons,” stated GM Sean Marks<\/strong>. “Since becoming head coach, Steve was faced with a number of unprecedented challenges, and we are sincerely grateful for his leadership, patience and humility throughout his tenure. Personally, this was an immensely difficult decision; however, after much deliberation and evaluation of how the season has begun, we agreed that a change is necessary at this time.”<\/p>\n

Talks are already swirling that Boston Celtics suspended head coach, Ime Udoka<\/strong>, will become the next permanent head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. Udoka was an assistant on the Nets bench before he went to the Celtics as their head coach, which tells you that the Nets brass overlooked someone who they already had on their bench, and decided to go with Nash. This is probably another reason why Durant not only wanted Nash fired but he was also asking for the firing of Nets GM Sean Marks. The Nets brass are known to make bad decisions.<\/p>\n

Assistant coach Jacque Vaughn<\/strong> will take over as head coach for tonight’s home game against the Chicago Bulls.<\/p>\n
