The Cyclones used a three-run homer and dominant pitching in a 3–0 win at Hudson Valley to climb back over .500 on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
All the scoring came in the third. Gene Cone led off with a walk, Colby Woodmansee singled with one out, and Pete Alonso hit a three-run homer to left-center to give the Cyclones a 3-0 lead. The shot was Alonso’s fourth home run of the season. <\/p>\n
Alonso’s blast ended the night for Hudson Valley starter Eduard Rosillo. The Renegades bullpen was strong down the stretch as two relievers shut out the Cyclones over the final six and one-third innings. <\/p>\n
It didn’t matter, however, as Brooklyn’s pitching was even more dominant than Alonso’s bat. Cyclones starter Harol Gonzalez threw seven innings of four-hit shutout ball, walking one and striking out four. Gonzalez improved to 4–1 with a 1.77 earned run average.<\/p>\n
Gary Cornish recorded the final six outs – three via the strikeout – for his second save of the season.<\/p>\n
The 23–22 Cyclones are back in action on Thursday night against the Renegades.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn is now 2.5 games behind the first place Renegades.<\/p>\n
