Vermont 7 Cyclones 1 <\/p>\n

It had to end sometime. The Cyclones’ six-game win streak was snapped on Saturday night as Brooklyn fell 7–1 to Vermont in the series finale. <\/p>\n
The game got off to a rough start for the Clones as the Lake Monsters took advantage of Brooklyn’s miscues to take a first-inning lead.<\/p>\n
With one out, Eli White doubled against Cyclones starter Justin Dunn. Nate Mondou hit one to third, but a Jay Jabs throwing error put runners on second and third. A run-scoring groundout from Miguel Mercedes plated White and moved Mondou to third. A two-out double from Nick Collins scored Mondou, and Eric Marinez followed with a single to give Vermont a 3–0 lead.<\/p>\n
In the second – with runners on first and second and two outs – Mondou hit a grounder to short, but a Colby Woodmansee fielding error scored the runner from second instead of ending the inning.<\/p>\n
Dunn tossed three innings and gave up five hits, walked one and struck out two. The first-round pick fell to 1–1 on the season, but, because of the unearned runs, still boasts a 0.75 earned run average.<\/p>\n
The Cyclones got on the board in the fourth as Woodmansee led off with a single, moved to second on Desmond Lindsay’s walk, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 4–1.<\/p>\n
Nabil Crismatt pitched four shutout innings out of the bullpen, giving up four hits and striking out four. The Cyclones couldn’t build off Crismatt’s performance, however, as Vermont pitchers Ivan Andueza, Tyler Painton and Dalton Sawyer held Brooklyn to five hits.<\/p>\n
Vermont put the game out of reach in the eight. The Lake Monsters loaded the bases on Brooklyn reliever Alejandro Castro and Luis Barrera made it a 5–1 game with a run-scoring single. Dillon Becker entered, but a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch gave Vermont a six-run cushion and the win. <\/p>\n
The 21–20 Cyclones return home to play the Aberdeen IronBirds at 4 pm on Sunday afternoon. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Wilmer Flores bobblehead. It’s a two-faced bobblehead commemorating the former Cyclone’s tears to cheers week in Flushing last season.<\/p>\n
UPS AND DOWNS <\/p>\n
Brooklyn coach Edgardo Alfonzo was at Citi Field for the Mike Piazza number retirement ceremony. Alfonzo and Piazza were teammates from 1998-–002. <\/p>\n
Former Cyclone Wilmer Flores had a home run taken away in the ninth inning of the Mets game on Saturday. Flores hit what looked to be a dinger but after a review, the umpires ruled fan interference and an out.<\/p>\n
